Doesn’t work as a comparison. A life of hardship was all anyone knew in 1700. The parents of those children didn’t know any better (and didn’t have access to contraception).

We know full well that our planet is dying and that life on it is getting worse, not better. We know there have been times where we weren’t ravaged by floods and droughts and that those times are gone. If you have children now, you must really hate them.
