I don’t know where people get these idiotic ideas. Saying the man should pay for everything is just pathetic, not too mention heteronormative — what about couples with no man or two men? I feel like this is a US problem though; whereI live, everyone just splits the bill. Never occurred to me to do anything else.

Only time it would be different if one party was hard up financially and couldn’t afford it — if I was dating a guy who didn’t have any money, I’d assume I was paying.
