I don't take it to mean men are useless, more that we don't *need* one to be happy, just as (straight) men don't need a woman to be happy. I mean do you really want to be needed, which implies a lack of choice, or to be wanted? The fish should *want* the bicycle, and vice versa.

And also what of gay men? Are they not having this crisis of confidence because we don't need them?
