I don’t we can ever accurately view the past through our modern lens. My first instinct is to say I’d be miserable in the 50s, stuck in a “traditional” marriage and not able to pursue a fulfilling career. But then in the ‘50s that wouldn’t have been possible, so it probably wouldn’t have occurred to me to want it.
