I feel like this article misses a trick by not raising the point that it shouldn't *have* to be the mother's job to stay home and raise children. What about stay-at-home dads? Why don't more couples split parental leave equally where possible?

Also, you don't mention that this article is only about the US, but it's worth clarifying. I baulked when you said parental leave should be extended — it's already 18 months where I am.
