I think it goes both ways though — people can try to avoid taking offence but people also need to stop being so ready to cause it.

Social media inevitably causes people to miss nuance and read malice into a post that wasn’t there, but so many people (men) have called me a dumb ugly whore because I disagreed with them and with the best will in the world I don’t think they intended it as a compliment!
