I was in the intermediate set for maths (not even the bottom, the middle!) and our teacher loudly bemoaned to the class on the first day 'Oh why was I given the thick students?!'

Can't believe it didn't occur to me to complain. I was in top set for all my other subjects, so it didn't dent my confidence overall, but I never got any better at maths, because there was no point asking him for help.

I wasn't sad when I heard that he'd died.
