I would maybe change the past part to "we grew together as adults" as I found "we didn't grow up…

… those of you that don’t know me, I am Michele, C’s much older sister. I was 14 when C was born and although we didn’t get to grow up together, we grew up as adults together.

I would maybe change the past part to "we grew together as adults" as I found "we didn't grow up together but we grew up together" confusing.
