It is Not My Responsibility to Raise Your Child

The entitlement of some parents is unbelievable!

I keep seeing this phrase bandied about lately:

“It takes a village to raise a child”

The implication is usually clear enough— it takes a village to raise a child, but those lazy, childfree villagers aren’t pulling their weight. However, I’ve never seen anyone so nakedly display both their sense of entitlement and hatred of the childfree as in the below:

Let’s unpack this, this step by step

First of all, yes, I must insist that as someone who is childfree, I am definitely less responsible for a child than its parents. If I may be so bold, I’d suggest I am in no way, shape, or form even slightly responsible for raising your child, collective or otherwise.

Secondly, I don’t doubt for a second that parenting is hard. Brain surgery looks hard, which is why I trained as a copywriter and not a neurosurgeon. I have my doubts, personally, about it being impossible to know how hard parenting is, considering…
