I’ve come to the conclusion that romance is very different in the US. I look on in confusion at the arguments that the man should always pay, or that a man needs to be earning a certain amount of money, or has to own a car etc to be “worth” dating.

It’s just normal to split the bill here and I at least don’t know anyone who would rule a potential partner out on grounds of their salary.
