Lol, none of this is remotely exclusive to Paris. Pickpockets and muggers exist everywhere, but especially in big cities with high numbers of tourists. I used to loathe Paris because every time I went there it was raining. Difference was I knew I was being irrational 😁

Sad you had a bad time though, that would certainly have put a dampener on my mood too.
