Medium is Unfollowing People for Me

The exciting new service that no-one asked for

The other day, I discovered that an author I’m fairly sure I’ve never interacted with before had blocked me. Presumably because she’s jealous of my unrivalled talent and stunning good looks (note to self: this is why people block you).

So when I realised yesterday that I hadn’t seen Susie Kearley on my feed in a while, I feared the worst. She’s a pretty consistent presence here on Medium, so it was more than a little disconcerting.

So, fingers trembling with trepidation, I keyed her name into the search box. No 404 error, so that was a good start. But them I saw it. The big green box at the top of her profile inviting me to follow her.

But I was following her! I was! She was one of the first people here I followed, I believe.

Problem rectified now, but I’ve no idea how many other people Medium might have “helpfully” unfollowed on my behalf.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?
