A lot of the words you've called out make perfect sense to me. There's nothing wrong with the word cohort. It's a real word, used correctly, which excludes it from being classified as "jargon" to me.

However, someone once asked me to "surface some info" and that was the first time I had to ask what one of my colleagues actually meant.
