Sounds like your husband could do with maybe some CBT for his anxiety. I don’t think going to the gym every day is unusual; I know a few people who do, and wanting to escape social situations when you’ve had enough just sounds like a classic introvert. You can bet if I’m sick of the party I’m going to bed.
It is very frustrating though when people don’t get help for something that is holding them back. From my experiences with a few friends and my partner suffering with anxiety, it’s very manageable with meds and CBT, although sometimes it clears up on its own.
