Ok, but the UK is roughly 0.8% of the global population, as is France. The GDP in the US is bigger because you are bigger. Also other countries pay less but also have a lower cost of living.

Regardless, it's disgusting then that so many people in th US are so poor. It could afford to provide a social safety net.
