Okay, so someone out there decided that going through the expensive and traumatic abortion procedure was somehow cheaper and easier than using condoms or hormonal contraception. Suuuuuuuuuuuure they did. Just nipping down to the abortion clinic every few weeks is obviously very practical for most people.
