Someone else in the Guardian today raised a really good point re: women supposedly falling for marketing and buying a load of Barbie merch now — men are allowed to and admired for keeping childhood toys and Star Wars figurines, because they're "collectors items" but when it pertains to women's interests they're "just toys". Total double standard.
