Stop Whining About the MWC
You lost. Get over it.
Ooh, as someone who voted remain in 2016 it feels good to be the one saying that for a change. Although with the consequences of their actions thoroughly kicking all our arses right now, maybe we should be telling Leavers “You won. Get over it”.
Bear with me though, because this isn’t actually about Brexit, as much as I’m sure you’d love that. It’s about the Medium Writing Challenge and what a bunch of pathetic cry babies you all are. Yes, you. And you. Maybe not you, but definitely you.
Let’s break down the complaints, shall we?
It was rigged
The most common whinge is that the contest was “rigged” because two of the winning stories addressed issues concerning immigration and racism. Now, I have no idea whether the contest was “rigged” or not, and frankly I don’t care, but let me play devil’s advocate for a moment regardless.
Maybe editors appreciate stories which are timely, and with the explosion in popularity of the Black Lives Matter movement over the last year and with Trump’s comments about immigrants still ringing in our ears, these stories won because they say something important about the age we’re living in?
This is not to mention the many people implying some of the writers only won…
