With the announcement that all covid-19 restrictions will end in the UK on 19th July, office workers are facing an imminent return to the workplace. That might mean trading morning lie-ins for rush-hour trains, but it’s not all doom and gloom: here are the 6 best things about returning to the office.

6. Never hearing “you’re on mute” ever again

Okay, we might not be rid of Zoom forever, but at least we’re going to have to hear 2020’s most annoying phrase a lot less from now on.

5. Fewer pointless meetings in general, actually

Remember the days when if you needed someone to do something, you could just walk over to their desk and ask them? Now we’re all working remotely there suddenly has to be a kick-off meeting, a close-down meeting and several progress reports in between, and what should’ve taken half an hour takes a fortnight.

4. Office coffee machines

Sure, the coffee wasn’t good. But it was free.

3. No more tedious online collaboration tools
