The issue is that continuing to refer to them as "German" leads to the linering resentment and discrimination that German people still face today. And it's not inaccurate to call them Nazis, because they were fighting for the Nazi forces.

Lots of Germans did support Hitler, that's how effective of a public speaker he was and I'm sure you understand the circumstances ordinary Germans were living in at the time. We educate against populism, we don't discriminate. And Germany brought in conscription during the war same as most of the allies, so it's not like every German soldier wanted to be there. Kids were brainwashed from a young age. There's choice and there's a truly free choice.
