Two Months off Medium: What Happened to my Stats?
It’s surprisingly good news
Yesterday I read a Medium scare story, claiming that if you went two weeks without publishing, you would fall off the face of the platform, lose all your followers and never earn a cent again.
That’s bollocks. I’ve just returned from a two-month hiatus, and while yes, my stats are down, it’s not nearly as bad a picture as the dramatists are painting.
Why did I leave?
It was never planned to be permanent — I simply had far too much to do. I work full time and study part time, and had four essays due before 26 May. Which I actually had to turn in by the 20th, because then I went on holiday for a week.
Frankly, I should be catching up on everything I’ve missed, since the term isn’t actually over yet for a couple of weeks, but rushing to get everything done before my holiday was so stressful, that I’m still feeling burnt out when it comes to forcing my brain to learn two new languages at once.
