Women Don’t “Only Want to Date Jerks”
We just don’t want to date YOU
I didn’t think I’d be writing about this again so soon, but (some) men just won’t stop with their lukewarm takes on “what women want”.
Never mind that they’re drowning out the women desperately trying to clarify exactly what we want. Because obviously, they know better than us, right?
So, today, a twist on a theme: from “women want a high-value man” to “women only want to date jerks”. And it comes with cod psychology this time too! Apparently, it’s because we were emotionally neglected as children.
As ever, it’s news to me. But what do I know? I’ve only been dating men since I was 17 and have been in a stable relationship for more than six years.
I’ve had a couple of short-lived relationships with men who turned out to be jerks. The salient words in that sentence being “short-lived” and “turned out to be”. I didn’t target men who I thought would treat me badly and it never lasted when they did — because women don’t want to date jerks.
Any other pointers that this simply isn’t true? Well, given the number of self-proclaimed “nice guys”, complaining they can’t get a date, there must have been an epidemic of child emotional abuse, on an unprecedented scale…
